Bible Story Nightmares

Kenny woke up last night and came into our room. He said he wanted to sleep on the floor with us because he had a bad dream. A whale was going to eat him. I told him there wasn't a whale in his room, but I am sure with his vivid imagination (he gets that from me) there really was a whale. I thought about his nightmare and the strangeness of the topic. Then it dawned on me. I asked, "Kenny, did you talk about Jonah at school?" He said, "Yes, and the whale ate him all gone."
Now that I think about it, scriptures stories can be a little scary to a small mind who only remembers part of the story.

I had a hard day at work yesterday. I have this kid who keeps hurting other kids. I mean serious stuff like choking, punching, and stabbing with various objects. He had a hard day and ended up in the office...again. Now he's been assigned a 10 day stint in an alternative education center. Part of me is grateful for the break, but this means a lot of paperwork for me and reteaching everything we've done for two weeks. I also have an ADHD kiddo whom I adore, but they are doing some changing with his medication and I get to document the effects since I'm with him all day.

Anyway, I came home with a stress headache and sore feet from wearing heels all day. So we went out to a new Chinese buffet for dinner. I really like this new place. It has a great variety of good food. The boys had a great time. Kenny likes to pick out his own food and Nathan likes the variety of food he gets. Nathan was flirting with this little girl at the other table. He would stare at her and as soon as she would look, he'd wave and say hi. It was so cute.

Kenny had a perfect day at school on both Tuesday and Wednesday. He got to play the Cars Xbox game for 30 minutes each day. He loves to play Tractor Tipping, which won't mean much to anyone who hasn't seen the movie. He is really good at it. We set the timer and he plays all by himself. He can't read, but knows how to navigate the menu. When the timer goes off, he very nicely puts the controller away and says he needs to go play something else. Unfortunately, he didn't get to play today because he decided to squirt his juice all over the heads of the other children at his table. I have to admit...I've been tempted to do the same at some of the insanely long faculty meetings I am forced to endure.

Landan did the same thing last night. We had a ward activity at a pizza buffet and karaoke place. There is this little girl that is about 2 weeks older than him. He spent the entire night trying to get her to talk to him. It was sweet.
