To Heaven in A Helicopter

We went for a helicopter ride this afternoon. It was AMAZING! Grandmama went first. She was very nervous, but went anyway. Funny thing happened. She didn't know the easiest way to enter a helicopter is caboose first and therefore was having a slightly difficult time. She told Flight Instructor Gary she needed help and the poor baffled man did the only thing he could think of. He grabbed her hiney with both hands and pushed. Margaret and I almost peed our pants laughing.

Oooo la la. He's so handsome it give me goosebumps. Grandmama, you're cute too.

Margaret went next. After an initial panic tensing, she loosened up and had a great time.

Then Kenny and I went up. I had never been in a helicopter before. I always thought I would have some sort of shoulder strap but all you get is a little lap belt. You are more strapped in when you go on an amusement park at the the local state fair than when you are zooming around 500+ feet off the ground. The doors were off which made me a little nervous for about a minute, but then I realized I wasn't going to fall out. We went out over the practice area and Ken showed us S-turns. I mentioned that he was really tilting far to the side. He said he could tilt further. He banked the helicopter over so I was looking down at the ground out the non-existent side door. Kenny was so cute! He sat in between Ken and I. He kept saying he had never been in a helicopter before. I took a few pictures up in the air.

The red barn in the center of the picture is the flight school. Nathan, Margret, and Grandmama were hanging out in the hanger with Flight Instructor Gary.

Our van is under the tree on the left.

Nathan wandered around the hanger and had a great time.

When we landed Kenny held his arms out and pretended he was a helicopter. In his personal prayer he thanked Heavenly Father for letting him fly to heaven in the helicopter. He's such a sweetie!
