Having 3 is a lot of work!

Wow. I have three boys.

How did this happen to me? I will admit I have had a few- though very fleeting- moments when I found myself contemplating "I'm not so sure we thought this thing through all the way."

Now that James is here, I'm grateful I didn't have a girl. With my sons I can't imagine a little girl fitting in. They are the most perfect and beautiful little trio.

But three kids is a lot of work. Granted, I am still recovering and not even close to my regular form. That probably complicates things. Our baby is also a cuddle bug. He does not like to look around or play on the floor with his hands like his brothers did. James wants to be held and held tight. Laying across your lap won't do. He wants you to sit Indian style, fold him in half, and shove in the little hole in your lap. It makes doing even the simplest tasks, like using the bathroom, hard. For example, between feedings, settling James into feeling okay with being set down, and caring for Kenny and Nathan it took me an hour and a half to fold one load of laundry yesterday.

I also don't have any pictures of my boys together. Kenny's little virus last week meant he was quarantined from the baby and if Nathan is "holding" the baby I need both my hands plus a few more. Cameras are not an option. Nathan is warming up to the baby. We bought him a little boy cabbage patch doll. He will take care of his baby while I take care of mine. It helps him feel involved. He loves changing that dolls diapers and making it dinner in the toy room kitchen. He also did great with potty training yesterday. We tried the run around naked approuch and it worked! Yeah for Nathan! It's about time seeing as we spent $40 in diapers at the store last weekend.

James had his two week appointment last Friday. He was 7 lbs. 1 oz. and 20 inches. Still smaller than Kenny when he was born. He has some problems with gassiness. Poor baby- I hope he'll grow out of it as he gets bigger.

In other news, I am within 1 pound of my pre-pregnancy weight. However, I am no where near the right shape. Things are still shrinking and moving back to their original location. I was thinking- if anyone ever needs labor and birth advice, I'm the one to come to. I have had three babies- each one different. Kenny was a vaginal/epideral. Nathan was a vaginal/natural. And James was a holy-crap-get-this-baby-out-now ceasarian section. I've done it all!

I feel that I am rambling a bit, but in my defense I am severely sleep deprived. Besides being up with a baby at night, I still have to set an early alarm clock to get my family up, dressed, and out the door for work/school. And the nap when baby naps thing]s doesn't usually go well when there are other children to care for. But James is going for 3 hour streches at night now, so things will be getting better soon.

Oh, there goes my mommy alarm clock. James has reached his limit of how long he'll lay down next to me while I type. Sorry no pictures. The computer is downloading them very slowly and I have to go now. Maybe later I'll have time.

Ha ha ha!

well, I can tell you HOW it happened (:
and I definitely can relate to the "did we think this through" (esp since #3 wasn't "planned"on our part) It does get easier, remember, you're still only less than 3 weeks post partum... it gets better AND enjoyable! I'm just around the corner so don't hesitate to call me.

WOW! I wasn't even 1/2 way as good as you are 3 weeks after my c-section with Weston, and I had tons of help. (Let me take that back, my Mother-In-Law spent a week of vacation with me during week 3.) I can't believe you do it with 3 boys. You are my hero. By the way, if I haven't said it lately, James is beautiful. You and Ken make beautiful babies.

Today is my first day all alone with the girls. Aagh! Hopefully I can make it a few more hours.

We can't wait to see you, Ken and those 3 cute boys!
