On Thursday a car in the staff parking lot (5 cars down from mine) randomly caught fire and burned, taking out the car next to it in the process. My class was in route to the cafeteria and saw the smoke. There was a lot. Other teachers who had to evacuate the portables saw the flames and said they were huge. At our faculty meeting that afternoon we joked that Friday the 13th had come a day early.
We spoke too soon.
This afternoon we got put into lock down. And it wasn't a drill. I will tell you, it was scary looking at this classroom full of very little, scared kids knowing someone was in the building who wasn't supposed to be there and I was solely responsible for each of them. I know that is the case everyday, but I don't ever really think about it or how young my class really is. Anyway, they finally got the scary man out of the building for good and we came out of lock down.
Then, on the way home, I blew out a tire- in the rain. I was on the side feeder road of the freeway which is not a safe place to stop. I got to the first entrance to a business and pulled in. I called Ken, but he had just started a test and couldn't help. So my dad came and we changed the tire. But the spare was really low on air. It got me home though and that was all I cared about.
I'm not normally a superstitious person...but yesterday was a bit of a crazy day.
