Yikes!

I think this is the longest I have gone without blogging. Just busy I guess. The boys are eating breakfast so I have a few minutes until getting them dressed in their soccer uniforms for today's games. We had a nice Easter. David and Jonny and their families came over for a brunch in the morning. We listened to conference and watched The Testaments with the boys. Then I made a nice dinner for the family and a friend of Ken's. The food was great! One of the best meals I have ever made. I'll put the recipes on my food blog. Of course there was Easter egg hunting. It was a nice, quiet, perfect day.

Rodeo 2010

On the Friday of spring break we took the kids to the livestock show and carnival. I honestly thought we would only be there for a few hours. Nine and a half!! My baby didn't cry of fuss the entire time and te boys never got tired. We started off at the livestock show. They hand out these little cards for each of the animals and a map of where everything is. Kenny of course could read the map and made sure we did not miss a single animal and therefore the card. The petting zoo part was my favorite. We let the kids get some food to feed the animals and they loved it! We got the boys new cowboys hats and they look so cute! We also enjoyed some great bbq and carnival food like fried candy bars and foot long corn dogs. The boys rode a bunch of little rides and James had an absolute blast on the carousal. He kept rocking back and forth on the horse trying to get it to go and letting out these deep belly laughs. It was adorable!

Phase 2- Prepping the Walls

In case you wer considering it...NEVER EVER wallpaper anything...EVER! We had 30 year old wallpaper applied directly to dry wall. Guess what! The top layer of dDrywall is made of paper. When you score and spray down the wallpaper with the glue loosening stuff it also dampens drywall underneath. And just think about what happenes to wet paper.
Needless to say, we spent several days sanding, muddiing, sanding, mudding, sanding, and spakling the walls. It also took two coats of primer because the bare drywall just suck up the first application. You coundn't even tell we had done anything. We did get the boys to help. The helped prep the piece od drywall for fixing the now messing medicine cabinet hole. They also helped paint.
James did this (lucky his bedroom is across the hall from the bathroom.)

Phase 1 of Spring Break Project

It was a demolition zone at our house this evening. We decided it was finally time to redo the boys bathroom. We have removed all 7 towel rods (really people, who actually needs seven towel rods?) We got rid od the nasty old medicine cabinet. We took down the large piece of flat plate glass they called a mirror. Last, we removed the 30 year old original to the house floral wallpaper. This is what it looks like now.

I know, I know. It looked better before. But we have big plans to paint, install new hardware, new mirrors, and trim.

By the way, we won't say no if anyone is just itching to come and help. (hint, hint)

He Thinks He Can Dress Himself

When we get him undressed James LOVES to take his shirt and try to put it back on. He puts it around his neck and toddles around. It is adorable! He has also learned to say "hi". When I first walk into his room in the morning He is always standing in his crib, a big grin on his face, and as sweet little high pitched baby voice "hi". He is getting so big so fast.

Pruning

We spent yesterday pruning the bushes and things in the front yard. It turned out to be the perfect day for it. I am usually planting flowers this weekend, but the weather is still in the 30s and low 40s during the night and in the morning so I need to wait. Ken and I trimmed the bushes and the boys had the job of picking up all the cut off parts and throwing them away.

It's a good thing we were planning on re-mulching because Nathan had a hard time determining the difference between a clippings and mulch. I think he threw half the mulch in the trash!
